There’s nothing I love more than an adventure. I’ve been on some pretty great adventures. And I’m excited to share them here ๐Ÿ™‚

First things first, I think it’s important to share why I started this blog in the first place.

  1. Writing: I’ve realized how much I enjoy writing in general. It’s therapeutic for me, getting my thoughts out makes me feel good. A selfish reason, but an honest one. My Intstagram captions are getting too long and probably annoy the hell out of people โ€“ that’s when you know you need another creative outlet.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚
  2. Sharing Moments: I’ve noticed that the more I see and experience, the more I feel compelled to share. I’m really lucky and have had some wonderful opportunities to see the world, so why would I keep them to myself? Maybe these moments will inspire people to travel themselves or just give them a glimpse into what’s out there waiting to be seen.
  3. Meaningful Advice: I get asked a lot of travel questions. Countless texts, direct message on Facebook and Instagram, emails โ€“ all on the topic of travel. I truly love answering everyone who reaches out to me and I take pride in providing meaningful advice, tips, suggestions, etc. When I’m asked something like, “I noticed you’re in San Diego a lot! What should I do when I go in July?”,ย  I go all-in, eager to make sure I give the best advice I can give. I’ve literally spending hours writing custom guides for people I haven’t talked to in years. Like I said, I really do love doing this and am flattered that people reach out, BUT it takes a lot of time and lately, I haven’t been able to keep up writing back meaningful responses. I’m hoping this blog will provide me a place to point more people in the right direction, providing content that’s helpful for them, and also efficient for me. Win win.

Anyway โ€“ If you have any questions, post suggestions, or would like to contribute a post {guests posts are always fun!}, please email me at samanthagerard811@gmail.com

Since this page is called “About Me,” I guess I should tell you some things about myself.

Here’s a list of 10 random things {I love lists}:

  1. i have a thing for writing & typing in all lower case. for some reason i don’t like upper case letters. i don’t know why and know it isn’t acceptable in the world of writing and blogging, but i’m still going to do the rest of these 10 things in all lower case ๐Ÿ™‚
  2. i live just outside of new york city and work in manhattan in social & digital marketing. the fact that new york is essentially never ending (in the way one can never truly see it all) makes it such a fun place to live.
  3. i love my day to day life and the people in it, but i live to travel. adventure and the idea of exploring somewhere unknown to me makes happier than anything else in this world.
  4. i have the best family in the universe. i know everyone says that, but if i could enter them into a ‘best family ever’ contest, they’d for sure win. i have the coolest parents and two brothers (a twin, steve, and a little brother, zach), who i wouldn’t trade a thing for.
  5. i also hit the jackpot when it comes to my best friend and husband. we met on our first night of college (he invited me to a lacrosse party via facebook โ€“ super romantic, i know) and we got married this spring, almost 9 years later. the day i met him and the day i married him are two of the best days of my life.
  6. i’m drawn to the ocean. being in it, the sound of it, just looking at it. i’m enthralled by waves and surfers. i think in a past life, i lived a simple life as a surfer on the north shore of oahu – or maybe that’s just in my future ๐Ÿ™‚
  7. i have a hard time sitting still and daydream often – but once i’m focused on something, i’m alllll in.
  8. i love spontaneity and always wish for more of it in my life. random weekend getaways, spur of the moment adventures… they’re far & few in between but they make me so happy.
  9. i could live on seafood, specifically shellfish. crabs, lobster, oysters, clams. i want to enter an oyster eating contest one day โ€“ so let me know if you hear about one of those haha.
  10. i’ve been lucky enough to have traveled to 13 countries (and counting). i’ll try to blog about each one, but in the meantime, let me know if you’re traveling to any of them and have questions! my favorites have been costa rica, moorea (tahiti), and italy.
  • costa rica (a bunch of times)
  • france (studied abroad in paris for a month)
  • bahamas
  • england
  • spain
  • ireland
  • tahiti
  • belgium
  • the netherlands
  • germany
  • italy
  • the bahamas
  • barbados
  • i also have to put the u.s. virgin islands and the british virgin islands, even though they don’t count because they’re technically territories. but they were amazing.
